Staffing always short, benefits become more expensive over time, executives make too much money, poor appreciation of nurses and support staff - budget cuts meant no staff appreciation gifts,

Pros

Benefits, benefits, benefits. Employees contributes to the pension pool and can save more on retirement ( 403b and 457b ). There are various educational trainings, but there is no career development.

Cons

Limited career growth. Poor management (theory X), no career development track and no investment on current employees. Promotions are based on cronyism instead of performance and meritocracy. The institution is happy when you are at where you are. Focus more on profits instead of recruiting, retaining and building its employees. Lots of "opportunities" for liability issues, wasted resources and lost talents. Low level in team morale and teamwork, low employees recognitions and appreciation (very negative cultures)
