Pros

I am not directly involved with patient care and research. As far as my professional commitment and values, I wanted to work for an organization that is committed service like healthcare, with its mission toward research, education and patient care.

Cons

One of the worst leadership teams I have ever experienced. No professional development. No career track. Only promote those who are in management. I feel like I am just told what to do, and never asked my recommendation or opinion for any of the work. My colleagues and I are micromanaged. Morale is incredibly low in my department.

Pros

Benefits! Health Benefits. Working with great physicians and most important helping our wonderful patients which I truly miss helping them the most.

Cons

Top heavy non essential management. Example: Dept. of General Surgery 3 Managers paid over $200k, 2 Stupidvisors paid $100k with 5 full-time paid employes paid $40-47k supporting 15 surgeons. Will hire friends/girlfriends and people with no work experience. Sink or swim type of environment. Men not welcome to apply.

Pros

There are a lot of intelligent and nice people that work here. The benefits are in fact some of the best available.

Cons

It is bureaucratic in the worst sense of the word. There is absolutely no flexibility, or recognition of individual employees unique needs in the workplace. If you are a clinician, opportunities abound. However, if you are an admin asst or professional staff, you are stuck with absolutely--and I stress, absolutely--no opportunities for advancement, regardless of your talent.
