Pros

Decent Benefits. Have Health Flexible Spending Option (FSA) Available during open enrollment. Strong and affective union representation for represented classifications.

Cons

At the staff level you can get trapped into a low paying position. For me it has been a very top-down and rigid structure. There is very little opportunity to grow your skills on the job to advance yourself. Training and skill building options available through Human Resources are almost nonexistent at the staff level. Once you are at management level there are lot's of resources and trainings available.
