The US Army allows you to gain great leadership experience. Your pay as an officer is great and your job security is even better.

Cons

Your weekly hours average around 60+ and becomes difficult to balance your personal life with your professional life at times.

Pros

Good combination of office and field work, along with personal space to get the job done. Each engineer gets a separate office. They can pay for your master's degree, and send you on long term training for a PhD.

Cons

Management has been very slow on upgrading and maintaining equipment and does not sanction unproductive employees. Everything moves slow, complicated internal mechanisms (paperwork).
