Pros

The Army won't fire you. The Army has decent benefits. The Army provides excellend opportunities for advancement. The Army provides a great starting block to a future career/life.

Cons

The Army will deploy you. The Army will use you in any way they see fit. Long seperations from friends and family in less than hospitable environments.

Pros

Sense of pride in your job, if you can stay in long enough the retirement plans can't be beat, and free health care

Cons

long hours that you won't get paid extra for, have to deploy to other countries for many months away from your family, inherent dangers with the job

Pay for officer ranks Benefits, especially vacation time Esprit de corps Potential to do an important job immediately after college

Cons

Approximately every other year is spent in Iraq or Afghanistan At least two months of every non-deployed year are spent in 'the field' away from home
