Pros

Working with a diverse group of people. Clear training. Opportunities to motivate and empower staff. The census is extremely important for the distribution of funding back to the community. The respondents and co-workers keep the job interesting if you are a "people person". Excellent opportunity for folks who want to gain skills in persuasion (sales) which is a benefit for the canvassers.

Cons

Likely your canvassers sometimes feel overwhelmed, this in turn leads to a high turnover. Due to the time allotted to complete the count, supervisors are required to train newbies throughout the process while simultaneously supporting the vets.

Pros

You schedule your own time, lots of time on the phone, you are out of the house calling on houses and talking to people.

Cons

There are remote chances of people being angry with you, the pay is near minimum wage, organization communications is poor once you go above your local supervisor.
