Pros

Working for the Postal Service is definately one of the best jobs for experiance, access to work, work/life balance and everything else. Everyone at USPS is nice and willing to help each other out. There are lots of layers of approvals and management to get things done; But, not anything out of the ordinary for any other gov agency.

Cons

Financial status of the postal service is tough on all employees. This is typical at any company this day and age. Employees are still treated well. However, raises this year are probably off the table. On top of that salary rates are behind the rest of the federal government. This is offset by better benefits overall which does cost $$. Yet many do not necessarily need all of those benefits, while others definiately do.

Beyond Disappointing

Pros

Hourly wage pretty good compared to local norm. Benefits OK but over-rated by those outside the organization (Conventional Wisdom is wrong). Opportunity to work outdoors. Work only moderately difficult. Could be a good gig, if only....

Cons

....if only Management would leave you alone and let you do your job, but they won't. Majority of management are liars and thugs; they manage solely by intimidation, threats and harassment. No reward for doing an excellent job, except more work piled upon you. Favoritism in treatment of employees is rampant. It could be an easy, very pleasant job, with inherent challenges of weather, road hazards, dogs, etc. a reasonable task. But - Management is determined to make it as miserable a place as possible to be, and they usually succeed. Constant negative input will invariably lead to negative results and an alienated workforce.
