Pros

The company has a nobel mission and many employees try to stay true to it. There are a lot of opportunities if you are able to step out and prove yourself.

Cons

Contains the same politics that you would expect from large corporations. There are a lot of long timers (15+ years there) because there are very few places to go to in San Antonio once you've established yourself there. These folks are sometimes the hardest to motivate because they are comfortable and don't want to put their career in jeopardy.

Pros

Great company, benefits, core values and mission. I am sure that the culture is amazing from what I have heard at the other sites and at HQ in San Antonio although it needs serious help here in Addison.

Cons

Middle Management is extremely poor and lacks ability to lead. Managers constantly micro manage and DO NOT lead by example. Gen. Joe Robles would be extremely disappointed if was aware of what was really going on at sight. Preach constantly about culture and to stand up when you see something that isn't right, but then ignore or try to intimidate you when you raise concerns.

Pros

supportive environment, strong leadership, innovative and open IT environment, great mentoring available, company truly cares about its employees and members, a company with a mission you can believe in, huge potential for growth

Cons

If you aren't a self-starter, this is not a good place for you. Your career is what you make of it at USAA. Your potential is only as good as the effort you put into it. This means that people with seniority may not be the people getting promotions if people with less experience are working harder and have higher visibility.
