Pros

Great benefits, on-site fitness, daycare, working with the military, had some amazing co-workers and a few great managers in the past.

Cons

The pay was below average pay and most managers micro-manage. I actually liked working for them under Bill Davis more than Joe Robles since everything was very transparent and we knew exactly what to expect. Over the years my job responsibilities more than tripled with no compensation and they began to monitor more calls and pointed out errors with more disciplinary action. Working with the military is great but when there is so much pressure at work how can you take pride in what you do each day. One huge misconception is that when you leave USAA even after being there more than five years you get to keep USAA insurance. This is completely false since after being there ten plus years we are being put into a different class and must quality again. On a final note you are on your own if you have ANY issues with management. Your opinion does not matter and ultimately it is their perception of you that determines how far you go up in the company and how long you are employed. Keep you head down, say yes to everything and offer no opinion unless it is the same as your manager. If you can do this you will enjoy being a slave to the system, if you not look for another company that values its employee's as people. Most of the managers are happy with their position and do not want any competition from the front-line employee's for their position so If you have any ambitions or are pursuing your MBA look elsewhere for more opportunity.
