Pros

Great benefits, including a stellar 401k package, onsite fitness centers, Starbucks, cafeteria, recreation fields, etc. Get to work with smart individuals who are dedicated to the mission of serving our mission and focused on delivering the deadlines (even if that means staying after 5 p.m. or working odd hours)

Cons

It's a big company and sometimes the politics are overwhelming. Definitely have to learn how to overcome that. All in all, Senior Management favors certain individuals for promotion over others too.

Pros

It has a great mission! The current CEO is a caring business professional and most of the C-level management are some of the most talented individuals in business.

Cons

If you are different, you are not "management material." Some of the long-tenured middle management personnel feel very threatened by folks hired from outside the company. Getting new ideas to be considered can be an uphill battle. Being a very successful executive at other companies doesn't mean anything if you do not have the USAA "brand" on your forehead! One has to participate in "group think" to advance in their career.

Pros

Pride in the mission of facilitating the financial security of the member. smart motivated people. Little acceptance for slackers. Nice benefits. Aggressive, can do attitude. Relentless focus on the satisfaction of the member.

Cons

High expectations of employees, including long hours. Hard to get a word in edge wise in meetings due to the high intensity work style of the employee base. could do a bit better job respecting diversity (surface differences and under the surface differences)
