Pros

You get a lot of practice helping members with their financial goals. The phones are always busy, with someone needing help.

Cons

Good corporate reimbursement for college and advance degree programs. I finished my MBA from a top 25 program, and USAA helped with around 40% of the costs. The drawback is there aren't many positions in the Phoenix area for career advancement for an MBA caliber person. You could relocate to San Antonio, but as a homeowner, $80,000 upside down, that's not likely to happen.

Pros

There is usually a performance bonus every year. Paid training and paid license fees. Generally hire great employees. Opportunity to give feedback.

Cons

Too much micro-management. A lot of attention when you’re not on track, not so much when you are. If you are in one of the smaller offices not much room for advancment.

Pros

Only pro is providing/helping those who serve our country!

Cons

Pushing services down their throat because they dont know what they need like we knew what they need despite the economy, circumstances, etc. Extreme micro-management. Changes were always being made "to make processess easier" when in fact they just made things more complicated than what they actually were. NMS is the dumping ground for everything..dictators/directors took on challenges to make their mark, and provided little training for the work that was expected. This is/was not a job for life!
