Pros

Low insurance rates. Benefits for 401k, life insurance, and tuition reimbursement are good. Some of the supervisors are good to work with.

Cons

Management not in touch with employees. Manager makes excuses for all the employees leaving. HR received many complaints from several staff but same issues continue. Bully environment, staff being yelled at, verbal abuse allowed. Manager wondering why the morale is so low.

Pros

Cold climate, so little chance of catching malaria. Inexpensive housing and cost of living versus pay. Easy to get hired here.

Cons

Recommends workers go to their psychiatrist. They consider this area to be "Scandinavian," but it really means there is no tolerance for urban and international personalities. Sent Spanish worker for English classes. Teaches physicians to be overly critical of patients. Many patients are considered to seek drugs. Workers who speak less are considered more intelligent than those who speak more. Asking for clarification reveals weakness. Instead, ask your overworked fellow workers. Don't use the dictation service even though it's available. It costs them money and they don't like it. Don't use the dictation program they give you. It will turn words like "newborn" into "mongolian spot" or whatever. You won't catch it and you'll get in trouble. Get last year's in-service board exam before showing up and review it. Lots of questions will be the same. They give you that test right away. It can make you look bad if you don't do good. They say it's better if you don't study for it but that's not so true.

Pros

Great team of coworkers that helped keep me above water even on the hardest days.

Cons

Gone are the days of employees being satisfied and happy working for this organization. Greed and gaslighting by nursing leadership have replaced the remarkable care UW has been known for. Nurses are leaving the organization in droves and leadership has done very little to retain experienced staff. UW Health does not care about their nurses. I would think twice before stepping foot into this hospital.
