Pros

Groundbreaking science, challenging but meaningful and impactful. Pay and benefits were great, and allowed for good work/life balance. Culture represented good values.

Cons

Very top heavy structure with too many VP's providing guidance without enough support. Very lean work environment and rushed deadlines. Research has been deprioritized.

Thank you for your review and for having been a part of our team. Our culture is a top priority, and we deeply value our employees – we're glad to hear that came through during your time at Ultragenyx. As a science-driven organization, advancing therapies for people with rare diseases is central to our purpose and remains our top priority. Recent restructuring efforts were designed to focus resources and ensure the company stays on a sustainable path so we can continue supporting those living with rare diseases and the broader rare disease community. If you’d like to share any additional specifics about your experience, our Employee Relations team is available at EmployeeRelations@ultragenyx.com. Thank you again, and we wish you the very best in your future endeavors.

Pros

There are many people at Ultragenyx who care about the science, the patients, and are deeply invested in making sure that high- quality products make it to the clinic and beyond.

Cons

I don't think there's a way to say this without sounding bitter. I'm not. Unfortunately, I feel as though the goals of the company, and the vision of of some really good scientists have been stifled by a culture of "good enough". Science is supposed to be about asking hard questions, and I think that Ultragenyx has lost sight of that in favor of cost.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts and for being part of Ultragenyx. We’re grateful to hear that our purpose, vision, and mission resonated with you, and that many on the team demonstrated the commitment we strive for as a science‑driven organization. We’re sorry to hear about the parts of your experience that didn’t reflect our values, including your concerns about favoritism. We take this feedback seriously. If you’re open to sharing more details, our Employee Relations team is here to listen at EmployeeRelations@ultragenyx.com.
