Pros

This job was a chance to do meaningful work in a high-impact field. As a member of the operations team, I helped support some of the best teachers in the city as they did critical work in the community. I would recommend a career at Uncommon to anyone self-driven, passionate about education, and looking to jump right in.

Cons

Uncommon is tackling the sector-wide concerns about sustainability of their work. They are not interested in "churn and burn" approaches to education. While the work hours can be long, the company works hard to make sure you feel supported, valued, and that your work has concrete meaning for children and families.

Pros

Passionate, hardworking, smart and fun people. Amazing opportunity to be a part of successful schools providing excellent education opportunity to highest-need students.

Cons

The hours are very long- all staff need to be present before the beginning of the school day at 7:15 am. You will never leave before 4:30, but expect later than 6:30 most days. Inflexible in terms of days off. No such thing as working remotely.
