Pros

No pros to working at UniFirst in Kelowna. Would leave 0 stars if I could.

Cons

Don't know where to start. Terrible pay, worse compensation package and even worse Management Team. A company this size should not be treating their employees so poorly.

Pros

The colleagues were happy to train and assist.

Cons

In the initial phase, everything appeared promising. However, there was a significant discrepancy between what was promised and the reality. Despite being assured a role as a "Customer Service Representative," I found myself entrenched in "Accounts Receivable." This was particularly baffling given my background in Social Communications and previous experience in business administration, focusing more on communication and negotiation aspects. The core issue lies in the absence of a written job description. Everything was conveyed verbally, leading to unexpected responsibilities that contradicted what was discussed in the job interview, where I was led to believe I would primarily be handling customer follow-ups. Recognizing my oversight in not formally requesting a written job description, I discovered a misalignment between the verbal promises and the actual responsibilities. Unbeknownst to me, I was expected to juggle accounting and customer service duties simultaneously, with the former dominating a substantial 90% of my tasks. Upon this realization, I sought the salary range for an entry-level accountant, discovering it to be around 30 CAD per hour, while I was receiving 23 CAD—an apparent attempt to economize by avoiding payment for professional accounting services. The key takeaway from this experience is a vital lesson for others: always insist on receiving the job description and offer in writing before acceptance. This documentation serves as proof of the original terms offered and can prevent others from encountering the challenges I faced.
