Pros

I worked in corporate L&D. They allowed me to jump on new, various projects to promote professional development. They also were great at recognizing hard work and accomplishments.

Cons

Very stiff and uptight culture. Taking time off is frowned upon and be ready to work yourself to the grind.

Pros

-Good pay -Nice, talented people -Opportunity for telecommuting

Cons

-TERRIBLE benefits -Company uses people and then throws them away People are ashamed to tell people they work for UnitedHealth Group. Their health benefits alone are terrible. Management does not care about customers or it's employees, just about the bottom line. Layoffs occur every quarter rain or shine, and great people get discarded while the deadwood stays.

Pros

Pay and benefits are average. Good place to learn how health care works. IT appeared to have good processes in place for portfolio management, development and testing.

Cons

I worked on the Corporate business side with many layers of management. In many cases no clear concensus of who is is the decision maker. Very high turnover when you count employees leaving UHG, contractors leaving and employees moving from department to department seeking sanity. Management appeared to have very good technical or operational skills, but their people skills as manageers was dismal at best.
