      Workplace environment was mostly good. People can be hit or miss.

      It's a corporate business in challenging times. Frequent contraction of business groups leading to layoffs.

      Hmmm.. listening to music while at work.

      Cons

      Mediocrity is not only tolerated but rather celebrated at Universal Music. Everything from antiquated leadership and practices to not understanding the value of its employees. HR is a complete joke and seen as paper pushers to the business. Although given my experiences with the department I can see why. Management still thinks it's feasible to bring people in at an incredible low salary because "we're the music industry". It's also no longer 1980..

      Pros

      You can get a grasp on the music business and all the facets involved. Benefits are standard. Coworkers are passionate about music.

      Cons

      The future will demand change from UMG and I'm not confident they can rise to the challenge due to all the political hierarchy. Outdated systems, no job reviews, no flexible work schedule, minimal culture, employees feel easily replaced not valued. With future generations coming on board, UMG will have to change or suffer the consequences of constant turnover that hurts the companies bottom line.
