Pros

Literally only good for the resume

Cons

No upward mobility, low pay, no fulfillment. There's a chance you lose your passion for music as a result of working here. Executives can be extremely demeaning and abusive.

Inept management, low pay, toxic culture

Pros

Listen to music at work. No, you don't get to see artists in the office (rare) and you won't have access to free perks like concert tickets (limited access). Casual dress (jeans friendly).

Cons

Inept management, toxic culture, low pay, continual layoffs, no clear company strategy, top heavy, low morale, still operating like it's 1999. Do not expect to succeed at this company with your own merits. There are no performance reviews. There are no such things as salary increases. The company doesn't care if you do a good job, good job mediocre job you still get paid the same. Most people left have no motivation to put in 100%, when they are clearly being paid at a 60% rate. There are very inept people that the company retains, and very qualified people the company pushes out (to fuel execs' own agenda and survival). HR is a joke - they are at the whim of executives and have been laid off in multiple waves.

The Roman Empire of the Music Industry

Pros

Roman Empire-sized company with spectacular breadth of artists, creatives and iconic brands. Generous PTO packages. Many cool and smart employees (a few knuckleheads here and there in middle management, as in any music company).

Cons

After 2021 IPO, company adopted an ultra-corporate, outdated approach to music business overall. Not great for growth. Beware: Biased gatekeeping practices, project budgeting, antiquated promotion processes, and other serious company culture issues. HR is a deceitful nightmare and should return to prior policies highlighting employee wellness. Considering the CEO can't even get the stock price higher than $20 a share (for over 2 years now), his outlandish compensation package is nonsensical insanity at best. Apple or Amazon should buy them out and restructure them for the 21st century.
