Pros

Good place to work. There are a lot of people who are very dedicated to the hospital mission. Dr. Smith has done well to transform image, look and feel.

Cons

Very complex, sometimes it takes a lot to change things. Can be very bureaucratic. All in all SUNY Upstate is a good place to work.

Benefits Best employer in the area, terrific mission to provide the best heath care in the region flexibility, understanding balance between personal and professional obligations.

Cons

Unions can sometimes cloud judgment of both employees and management which can lead to an unproductive work environment. New York State budget crisis continues to add additional burden to the hospital.

flexability in scheduling, hours, days off. Excellent staff education and staff involment in best practices, over all I find that the doctors have a genuine respect for the nursing staff. They understand that we are usually the first in line when it comes to direct patient care

Cons

the parking situation is difficult
