Exciting and Rewarding Place to Work

Pros

Ursa has been a great place to work. I have worked at places that are both ends of the spectrum – bureaucratic and slow vs. fast paced and soul crushing. The management team at Ursa has truly created the perfect combination of the best of both - drive and hustle with work-life balance. This is not just a “job” to anyone here, at all levels of the company. You are constantly surrounded by highly motivated, intelligent, collaborative, driven people and it pushes you to give it your all. But everyone also finds time to have a life and dedicate time to their families, hanging out with friends and each other, heading into the mountains every weekend, etc. Plus, the work is a ton of fun and cutting edge for the aerospace industry. The company encourages innovation and pushing the boundary, and it’s refreshing to see a company that isn’t afraid to take risks and try new things. The location is great, and for an aerospace company it’s fairly unique to have the offices, manufacturing, and test site all so close. There’s nothing better than getting to regularly watch a rocket engine test in person.

Cons

Personal accountability is real here. I personally like this style, but it means you really have to deliver and own your stuff. People are relying on you and there’s no room for excuses. The company is taking off, and it’s great to be part of the success, but it also means that the amount of work to get done is increasing a lot. The management team communicates in company all hands that they are working to make sure we do not hire so fast that we lose our edge and culture, and I appreciate the intentional hiring to bring in the best candidates possible. But with all of our recent successes, it feels like we are constantly stretched thin and in need of more people.

Pros

- Fantastic team members - Work is high-value and on the cutting edge - Lots of individual ownership - Fun start-up environment

Cons

- It's a start-up so be prepared to turn on a dime - There is a need to be flexible, so creating a medium-term vision is challenging
