Pros

Good benefits and 4-day work week. The GM over TRAX seems to be genuinely concerned but it seems to stop there with a major disconnect.

Cons

Middle management fights and bickers among themselves. There is little or no common ground and each is giving conflicting directives to the subordinates. A very poorly thought out management structure. Supervisors are constantly looking over their backs expecting an attack from an Assistant Manager. The Good-Old-Boy system of management is alive and well. If you are good at brown-nosing you will do well but if you work hard and expect to be left alone good luck. Salary is kept very low for the work performed and raises do not keep up with inflation (Even with the very low inflation we have had).

We thank you for your service at UTA. We are working hard to change our culture to address some of the very concerns you addressed above.

Pros

Stable company and provides benefits that are on par with other companies in the industry. They offer a pension that matches 10% of you salary. Good long term if you can handle the management games.

Cons

Pay is lower and is unlikely going to change. They use market research based on other transit companies to base pay. They pay under market because they can not find a reason to pay us market value.

You are correct, UTA is a very stable company and offers a great pension, which is rare among employers today. Pay at UTA is based on market surveys we conduct not only locally, but nationwide. We compare our pay not only to other transit organizations, but to other employers as well. We annually survey the market to ensure we are competitive.
