Community Education - Lacks professional management & awful work environment
Pros
Working with district families and assisting the community.
Cons
Toxic work environment!!! Management operates based on lack of trust and micromanagement. The work environment consists of management bullying and intimidating staff members, encouraging a tattle tale arena filled with fear and terrible morale. Staff members are choosing early retirement so they can get out of her department and the turn over rate is staggering. Management lacks basic knowledge of how any of the programs, individual departments or tasks are handled. The micromanagement is EXTREME, more concerned with petty office gossip than managing department operations; spends hours at a time in meetings talking about personal issues or discussing the same matters over and over again. Management NEVER checks in with the preschool classes, summer school courses, enrichment offerings or major sports camps run through the Community Education department. Management forbids employees from using cell phones or going to lunch with other staff members, will deliberately interrupt conversations between employees if she senses they get along and are friends. District administration is turning a blind eye to these issues caused by management, even other district staff members frequently comment they would never work under Community Education management and avoid communication with the department. Community Education management is personal friends with a district human resource staff member, giving an upper hand to the department blocking staff transfer requests to other buildings and positions.
