Pros

The only positive I can think to mention is that VCA does offer a competitive pay rate and benefits package.

Cons

I have never worked in such a toxic work environment as I have within this office. The staff is completely disconnected with one another and you definitely feel like it is an "every man for himself" type of environment. The veterinarians and office manager are down right abusive to employees and there is obvious shows of bullying and favoritisms throughout the office. Management is not supportive at all and doesn't even know how to do most of the jobs the employees are doing! Got ideas? They don't want to hear them and I have never seen an office that just looks right over any strengths its employees might have. I was hoping for a job here that would help me learn and grow and all I felt was that this job held me back. The actual work I was doing here was very intense and at times overwhelmingly busy, with no help to be had as we worked on a skeleton crew. If we had been properly staffed, I would say this was a good job to have, but with the aggressive behaviors that seemed to be accepted in this office, I could never suggest someone to work here. In my 30 years in the workforce, I have never worked in such a cold, callous environment. Also, on another note, I worked here and got big discounts and even free services for my pets during my employment and I never once took my animals there. Why? 1.) Because I did not trust our vets with my own animals 2.) The exorbitant prices were so unreal, I could go just about anywhere in town, including the emergency vet and pay less for service.

We appreciate you taking the time to be open about your experience, and we know how important teamwork, respect, and feeling supported are in a busy hospital environment. At VCA, we continue to invest in leadership training and development for hospital leaders, while staying focused on fostering inclusive cultures across our hospitals. We also recognize how essential Client Service Representatives are to the care team and are working toward more consistent staffing and support so teams can better manage the demands of their work. Your perspective is valuable as we continue strengthening the Associate experience and supporting the people who care for pets every day.

Pros

none, there is no support system

Cons

complements are given, then told what we did wrong , and they only care about future booking. CSR at VCA have more tasks, than any other animal hospital. We are the first responders and are treating and paid horribly

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We recognize the essential role Client Service Representatives play in our hospitals and the wide range of responsibilities they manage as the first point of connection for clients, patients, and care teams—often in fast‑paced and emotionally demanding environments. At VCA, leaders are expected to provide balanced, constructive feedback and meaningful support, and we understand how an emphasis on volume without adequate context or coaching can impact morale. We continue to evaluate roles, expectations, and compensation across our hospitals and to invest in wage increases over time, with a focus on recognizing the impact Associates have on patient care and the client experience. Feedback like this underscores the importance of leaders staying closely connected to the day‑to‑day realities of hospital roles. We remain committed to listening, strengthening leadership accountability, and continuing to evolve the Associate experience so our teams feel supported, respected, and empowered.
