Pros

This hospital has pretty good benefits (401 K match, good health insurance plan, etc). Bi annual employee surveys that let us give feedback to management.

Cons

I think the pay is a little on the low side, especially considering the very high cost of living in the area. Annual raises have been capped at only 3%, and very few if any employees actually get that. For example, I have always gotten "superior" reviews but that only seems to be worth a 2% raise in management's opinion.

close to home, multicultural representation among staff. VHC has won magnet status and in one of the top 100 Best Hospitals.

Cons

It is busy on all floor all the time, seem like they are understaffed at times. High rate of employee turnout, Hiring many new grads.

Pros

The patients were so interesting. Most from a wealthy educated background. They wanted to know everything about their healthcare. Pay was decent. Benefits were awful.

Cons

HCAHPS score was all that really mattered to the Administrative team. They were not concerned with the reality of patient care, just the dream they were the best of the best. Would not tolerate the nurses having opinions or ideas that were in contrast to theirs.
