First, thank you for being a member of our team. I am happy to hear you are enjoying flexibility in your career, and a great working environment with your coworkers. I have shared your comments regarding food choices and parking with our executive team. As you are aware, our location in the heart of Arlington has presented parking challenges. Our long-term goal is to accommodate all staff parking on the Hospital campus, and we are actively working to acquire property adjacent to the Hospital to allow for that. In the meantime, our Security and Parking Department recently consolidated the Hospital’s offsite parking garages in the Ballston area to provide an improved parking experience. Located in two garages, the buildings have attendants and security during hours that Hospital staff members are parking and the garages are very clean and well-lit. This has allowed for shorter times to and from the Hospital campus due to fewer stops. I’m happy to discuss in greater detail. Thank you for taking the time to review your workplace experience and for being a current member of our team. Like you, we are proud of our national recognitions. We give credit to our amazing team for helping us to achieve these honors, so thank you for your role in that! As you are likely aware, nationwide nursing shortages do tend to create turnover in hospital staffing, and we are certainly not immune to that. We have several initiatives in place for the coming year to help us retain our top talent. With regards to Kaiser Permanente, we have been one of the organization’s core hospital facilities since 2009, expanding that relationship in 2012 to include labor & deliver services. Our relationship with Kaiser has allowed us to reach and serve more members of the local community that has so greatly supported us. I welcome the opportunity to chat further about your workplace experience. Please do feel free to email me at any time with your thoughts at MDickersonCNO@virginiahospitalcenter.com or to set up a time to speak in person. Thank you again for being part of our team! -- Melody Dickerson, Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer
