Pros

Fantastic physicians to work for, top notch standards of professionalism, excellent benefits, community hospital system. A very enjoyable workplace environment overall.

Cons

Administration/management. It’s healthcare, we should know the chain of command, but I’ve never met or even know anyone higher than my boss’s boss in the Physician Group, and that was once. The business side needs to actually talk to their workers and patients to understand what it going on and what needs to be improved upon. Instead ridiculous impossible demands and expectations keep piling on. Their current business model is not sustainable to continue to deliver quality care, and if they don’t focus on caring for their established patients and fulfilling their needs, the whole thing is going to collapse on itself as they continue to not meet their patient’s expectations. But this falls on the deaf ears of the short-sighted admins. I think the higher ups are probably totally in the dark and only relying on the lower management to paint a picture of operations, when they are most definitely manipulative to cover their hides. They continue to say that everything is fine and excellent to make themselves look good, when the practice is floundering. Going as far as to keep extremely understaffed and under supplied to where it has become a safety issue during COVID. But to never need to ask for extra help and to keep those supply orders lows makes them look like rockstars. This time has taken a toll on everyone, but when 100% of your front office staff have sought out psychiatric care in the past few months due to the ridiculous amount of work dumped on them: you have a problem. When I started a year ago, it was very positive. Now it’s only: Why aren’t you doing more? Everything is negative, and it’s never enough. There are not enough people and working hours to fulfill tasks, it’s simple math! Also, I was promised a $1/hr raise at six months. It was on paper, contracted on my date of hire, and verbally promised that it would be received when that time arrived. It’s been eight months since my wage should have increased, and still have not received this. I’ve been told that this is waiting on my boss’s boss to submit the paper to Human Resources. Fed up, I asked who else I can go to I order to escalate this being that I keep hitting this brick wall, and I’m just referred to the people/person that are the problem. It’s so disappointing because I truly take pride in being part of VHC, but this sector does not live up to it’s promises. When I moved here from across the country, I also came into this organization with 15 years experience in a specialty, but was put into a generic entry level role, and have had no opportunity to move forward to utilize my expertise and professional skills. “Talent Management” did nothing but forward a couple job postings when I reached out to them. They included ones that didn’t apply to my credentials, and even excluded active postings which match my previous title. It felt like a joke. As said, I have 15 years in healthcare, but I also have completed a marketing program, plus 5 years of strictly customer service roles, with the insight of being the offspring of a Marketing Executive and a Finance Manager, and my spouse is a Customer Experience Marketing Research Director. My frustrations with the organization are beyond exasperating. Seeing how VHC responds to each review, I though maybe I would make more headway here with my input and perhaps help with backpay.
