      Pros

      Probably the best team I've ever been a part of. Very much an open and collaborative environment. I always felt welcome to express myself and bug other departments to make things happen. Great benefits package.

      Cons

      I ran into some very toxic mid level manager but that seemed to be a hiring fluke. Most departments had very respectable and professional management, bad apples are inevitable. I was layed off but I'm grateful for my time at VMware and everything I've learned and I'll certainly consider returning at some point should the opportunity arise.

      Great people, bad upper management

      Pros

      Pays well, everyone is very respectful, great work/life balance, benefits are top notch.

      Cons

      Upper management is very isolated, they don't understand the problems that the people who do the real work face, they don't understand the pains of the customers, they aren't very technical but they would claim to be.

      Pros

      Interesting challenging work on leading edge technology. Great, flexible working environment and middle managers. Terrific people, pay and benefits. Day to day, VMware is a really good place to work.

      Cons

      The impending Dell acquisition of VMware's parent company, EMC, means it's now time to begin cutting costs, as many of us expected. The risk is this will play out over many months, undermining confidence that projects and jobs are safe. All negative ratings below are based on the uncertainty created by this deal.
