Pros

Free coffee. Honestly, without bias, this is the worst job I have ever had.

Cons

0% raises, hours worked cut below 40, bonus decreases, Orwellian employee monitoring, nepotism, no flexibility in shift preference, promised tuition reimbursement that really doesn't exist because you work 3rd shift and can't attend school, starting salary of 33k WITH a college degree and possession of FINRA licences, the promise of a "financial career" when really you're answering phones in a call center where business needs are cited as reasons why you are unable to change positions, even laterally. Overall, the moon is promised and once employed it is clear of the company's intention to keep workers as cheaply as possible. Turnover rates are atrocious, but they hire en masse, throwing spaghetti against the wall.

Pros

Great company to work for. Culture is out of this world. They treat their people with respect and enable those with ability to move up in the organization quickly. They have a great compensation package and are in a great area. My boss there let me have the freedom to explore what I thought was important rather than just tow the company line.

Cons

Pay isn't the best. It's about 2/3 of what you'd really want from an investment firm. But that's to be expected as it's a low-cost provider.

Pros

Vanguard truly keeps the investor in mind. They will go out of their way to help investors, and it really is top notch. Very good benefits, nice campus and corporate perks, in a good economy lots of room for advancement. Gally is great, they offer nice services that you can have done (oil changes, car detailing, car repairs, dry cleaning, shoe repair). Vanguard University is amazing (voted #6 in terms of quality training out of all companies), great number of paid time off days, shuttle services to all local train stations, can buy SEPTA passes at a discount, pride in working for an investment company which truly values ethics and the well-being of their investors.

Cons

LOW PAY. Vanguard is a low cost mutual fund provider (they pass their savings on to the investor), but employee pay is very low. Micro management to the extreme. Every minute, every second of your day MUST be accounted for. Not easy to get paid time off. WAY too much middle management (line managers, team leaders etc). Bonuses are a joke, so are "partnership" payments. You make next to nothing for a base salary and they try to make you feel better by giving more in health / dental / paid time off. Crew's Views surverys are a bunch of lies.
