Pros
- Life flexibility - Unbeatable 401k match (18% if you put 4% of your own money) - Leadership does the right thing for the crew 90% of the time - High amount of PTOs - People are always willing to help, even across teams/departments - The people I've met are genuinely good people, there were very few snakes
Cons
- Low base salary - Every career move I've made has been a mistake - Promotions are dependent on people who don't see any of your work - It takes 6 years to fully vest your 401k - Employees' performance and labor is taken for granted (unpaid on-call, weekend elevations, etc...) - There are no more perks to "unlock" after 6 years at Vanguard - No official documentation about anything technical, it's changing however - One bad rating will tank your career down at Vanguard forever - Managers always ask you to speak more, introverts are looked down upon - If a manager hates your guts for any reason, you are in deep trouble - I've been expected to work 50-60 hour weeks for no compensation (depends on the role you have) while most crew in tech work around 20 hours at best
