Strong Product, Shrinking Pay, and Growing Pressure
Pros
The company’s product and market position are strong and remain ahead of many competitors. There is trust in the CEO’s decisions and commitment to the company’s future.
Cons
Sales targets continue to increase while book sizes decrease, creating unrealistic expectations for revenue generation. Quotas remain high with little flexibility for market conditions, contributing to a persistent sense of job insecurity - even for strong performers. Compensation is declining relative to expectations, with employees asked to deliver more while earning less. Customer interactions are becoming increasingly transactional, with pressure to prioritize revenue over customer needs. This approach is leading to frustration and risks damaging long-term relationships and brand perception. Leadership expects continued growth within accounts that are already fully saturated, while teams simultaneously face ongoing pricing pushback. In a constrained budget environment, the product’s value is often outweighed by cost concerns, making expansion increasingly difficult. Employee feedback is frequently solicited but largely ignored. New initiatives are often introduced without clear demand or alignment with frontline insights. The role has become increasingly high-stress, with mounting pressure, limited support, and declining compensation relative to expectations. Work-life balance is not respected. Employees are regularly contacted during PTO, making it difficult to fully disconnect. Internal systems are unreliable and create significant barriers to productivity, making it harder to execute core responsibilities effectively. System changes - and product rollouts - are frequent and lack sufficient training or enablement, leaving employees to adapt on their own. Team morale has noticeably declined, driven in part by increased reliance on performance improvement plans (PIPs) and a culture that feels more punitive than supportive. Role expectations are unclear and continue to change and expand, leading to confusion and significant burnout.
