Pros

Since Venmo's parent company is PayPal, you have all the benefits of a Fortune 500 company. Was provided with great dental and eye care, PPO plus plan options, 401 (k), and other great benefits like assistance with child care, adoption, and financial coaching to name a few.

Cons

When starting at Venmo, it was a different company and the people interviewing were going off how the startup had been ran for years - flexible time off, daily lunch and snacks, fun working environment, and endless opportunities for career advancement. During my time there, the company was transitioning and adapted to a corporate model, take more and give less. Very soon after being hired, it was clear that there was no career development plans or mentorships. Being promoted within was almost impossible. Since the Chicago office transitioned into WFH, the little culture there was, dissolved. The senior managers, director, VP do nothing to aide the disconnect between departments and teams. There is very little cohesiveness between departments which causes friction and limited solutions for merchants and users.

Pros

- The free hoodies and t-shirts I got were the best part. - The pay was ok. - Some great people work here but they deserve way better.

Cons

- No room for growth despite being fed the opposite when you're hired. - Popularity contest if you want to attempt to make any moves within the company. - Expected to act as a robot. - You're on the phone for probably 90% of the day. - Can't even go to the bathroom without being asked where you were. - Unrealistic metric expectations. - They claim to care about mental health and well being but 100% not the case - Beyond rude customers to deal with. - Not allowed time to compose yourself after being on a call with a terrible customer who just cussed you out and called you names. - Your team lead is basically your colleague with a vanity title; they have zero clue what is going on and are typically unavailable because they are forced into meetings all day every day. - Changes and rules made very frequently with no little to no training or explanation. - Don't bother asking any logical questions because you will not receive a real answer.

Pros

The pros is that they feed you, and start you off with great pay, but that's about it!

Cons

I have never left a bad reveiw about a company, and sadly I have to do so. The downside to working with this company is that no one knows that their doing. Not even upper management! I was employed as a Customer Support Representative, and often we were forced to figure out things on our own because no none knew where or how to fix anything. Also, the system broke down at leasst five to seven times during the week. Everything goes haywire often, because the systems in place currently aren't effective.
