Pros

Many excellent colleagues Convenient location near Newport PATH- easy access to NYC Beautiful Hudson River waterfront walkway nearby

Cons

Stressful environment in part due to rapid acquisition of companies - not enough staff to support this growth in Jersey City location. Many people/departments have crushing workloads. Many unskilled managers Poor interdepartmental communication

Pros

12 holidays to recover from the madness

Cons

Incompetent leadership spends more time creating convoluted Excel sheets and calendars than taking action to improve the department. It's been three years since the last major restructure and we still don't have process. The culture is defensive, ripe with finger pointing and blame gaming with no improvement in sight. The team is asked to participate in focus groups at least once a year but nothing changes. The same four departmental objectives have been recycled year over year because "marketing objectives don't change" which really shows Verisks thoughts towards innovation. Contractors are brought in based on nepotism to complete "special projects". The Vice President team was completely upended and replaced two years ago but there has been no improvement (hmmm, what or who is the constant here?). If you are looking for a dead end job filled with chaos, frustration, politics and pointless event summaries, this place is a perfect fit for you. Otherwise, avoid Verisk and its marketing team at all costs.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Leadership, process, and culture are critical to fostering a positive work environment, and we take your feedback seriously. We believe clear processes and cross-functional collaboration are essential, and based on feedback from our marketing colleagues, we have taken action to enhance how we work together: - In 2024, we launched a series of specialized teams designed to strengthen cross-functional collaboration. - We have increased channels for team members to offer ongoing feedback and open dialogue. - We have established a dedicated team to assess and refine our project management tools, ensuring that our work culture is supported by the right platforms and processes. Your insights and candor are appreciated. Open communication is important for our teams’ continued growth. If you’re open to sharing more about your experience, please connect with your manager or HR business partner so we can continue understanding your unique needs and experience.

Decent company, bad job

Pros

- 401k match and benefits are good - Direct managers are really good people - Work from home

Cons

- Pay/raises - Workload is overwhelming which creates more work to do - Micromanagement - you are constantly hounded for work to be completed even though you have a workload that is impossible to do - The scope of knowledge you are expected to know to do the job properly is ridiculous. No one knows how to do everything properly and misinformation is passed around regularly. Verisk expects you to be a "jack of all trades" and the result is a poor product. The insurance companies realize this and that is why they are losing business. - Following the customer requirements is really difficult. You must learn many things on your own

Thank you for your comments and concern about recent decisions that were made. We empower our teams to make decisions to enable and deliver the results our clients demand. While we have been very successful in both core and new growth areas, we constantly look to improve and introspect how we operate as a team, especially in areas of new growth where clients expectations have increased exponentially. With that in mind, we believe we have acted (and communicated to the team) on the market demand and positioned ourselves to scale for future success. If you have further questions/concerns, please feel free to reach out to your manager or any member of the leadership team.
