Good Entry into Clinical Field, Poor Opportunity for Experienced Workers

Pros

Good place to obtain an entry level position in clinical fields such as biostatistics, project management, medical writing, and data management. It can be difficult to break into these fields. Veristat has several great clients who are passionate about their pipelines/products and patient populations; generally they are very appreciative of work done on their behalf. Periodically, Veristat tries to encourage team building by having such activities as ice cream socials, Halloween carving contest/party, themed food gatherings, company meetings, and Christmas lunch.

Cons

Variable salaries (below industry norm, although may be worthwhile to obtain entry into clinical positions) with mediocre benefits (401k with some matching, health insurance with deductible, and company does not pay for life insurance or disability). Challenging working environment, with poor communication between groups and senior management - silence within the office is encouraged, as is working at your desk during lunch. Greater than 80% billable hours required. Working long hours, including weekends, is not unusual. Better work life balance, greater appreciation for your position, and better salaries can generally be found working for Sponsor/pharmaceutical companies. Higher than average turnover rate.

Growing rapidly!

Pros

If Glassdoor allowed percentages, I would have given a star rating of 3.75. I have been a full time employee at Veristat for 6 months. Here is what I have learned in that time: - The company has grown from 65 employees to about 200 employees in the last 3 years. Company growth like this means that there is also a lot of room for employees to grow and get promoted as the company expands. - In the functional areas, employees get exposed to a wide variety of therapeutic areas and can look forward to working on multiple projects. - Managers and leadership team are very approachable. - Good benefits. - Casual dress code. - The company actually listens to employee suggestions and makes changes when possible and in when in the best interest of the company. - Managers and employees genuinely care about their each other. I was out for a week for surgery and had a lovely bouquet of flowers show up at my house from my teammates with a 'get well soon' note.

Cons

- The pace is incredibly fast. This may not be a con for everyone, but some people may not be able to keep up if they are used to only working on one project at a time. - Any company growing this fast will go through some growing pains. Veristat is no exception to this rule. Luckily, executives have their finger on the pulse and do their best to minimize the negative impact.

Pros

Company processes and procedures that make sense. Small enough that you can get to know most of your co-workers. Flexible with work schedules.

Cons

Occasional difficulty in adapting to changes in direction and workload due to small company size.
