      Verizon.... a Good place to work?

      Pros

      Verizon is a great place to work, technically speaking. In just the sheer size of the network, equipment, and internal users to support, will present more opportunities to learn than most will see in a lifetime. If you like continous change, this is the place for you.

      Cons

      Verizon expects a "professional" work week - that is somewhere between 40 and 60 hours, depending on the needs of the business. On the positive side, taking time off during the work day to attend to family and personal business is not a problem. As long as the needs of the business are met first.

      Pros

      Total benefit package was outstanding. Cost of insurance was low compared to other companies I've worked for. 401k match was above average. Willing to spend money on the best technology.

      It is hard to get noticed in such a large company

      Pros

      Local to home residence and Ashburn is a nice community to live. Verizon offers a reasonable education package and has online training available for all employees.

      Cons

      Management fails to ask "why" and fix processess to allow employees to be successful. Most management has no real experience in the fields they are responsible for. Benefits are below industry standards. The company culture and especially that of executive managment is still the old telephone company culture.
