Pros

A decent paycheck is all I can think of

Cons

Let's see -- where to begin... Completely toxic environment, made complete with sales leadership who prioritize all of the wrong behaviors. They literally started the sales team by hiring from the same pool of high-school tool bag friends to come work together - this ultimately became the leadership and enterprise sellers who were leading the charge. I sat in multiple meetings where females in the office were routinely talked about in unprofessional manner and knew more than a few women who felt really uncomfortable working with them. Everything came to a head when it was discovered that there were people on the sales side who were abusing access to the cameras to take photos of their female employees (without their consent/knowledge) and sharing them to a slack channel -- and then it just got ugly. Your imagination can take it from there. Simply put -- this is not a place you want to be associated with.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and are disappointed to hear that this was your experience. What you have described is not representative of the kind of company we want to be or who we are today. The behavior of the group of individuals you referenced in your post was brought to leadership's attention and those individuals are no longer with the company. At Verkada, we strive to create a company culture that empowers our employees and makes them proud to work here. It is important we acknowledge where we miss the mark, examine where we may have fallen short, and take action to ensure it doesn’t happen again where this is the case.

Pros

You get some cool swag, if swag makes up for selling your soul for pennies on the dollar. I was in recruiting for sales- so I can give you the lowdown on both recruiting and sales. Unless you are coming off the street with zero experience and desperation is your middle name I would steer clear.

Cons

You make a fraction of what they sell you in the interview process. If you aren't a favorite with a good territory the likelihood you even hit your low ball OTE is a joke. Your stock options are also comical- but they will sell you that IPO dream like it's Martin Luther King's I have a dream speech. Sales Leadership is a frat boy president hazing his newest pledges. Unfortunately recruiting is just at the hands of sales decision making. If you are recruiter and you love mass messaging people/ convincing people to move across the country a subpar role this place will be your jam. Taylor swift 10 minute version All Too Well kind of jam. It's all they care about. Your numbers are a number and you and your sales reps you hire are a disposable number.

Pros

Casual dress, free food/cooked meals, great benefits, fun colleagues, good learning experience to advance your career.

Cons

There is a complete disconnect with management. Most of management have inflated egos, and are unqualified for their jobs. This causes an extremely toxic work environment where they give recognition to reps who don’t lead by example, but happen to be reaping the benefits of a ripe territory. Management looks down upon reps taking their PTO, use scare tactics repeatedly, and will fire reps before even putting them on a performance plan first. The territory lottery is real here, and timing is everything. A ripe territory could be due to previous reps building it out, or a lot of business through the channel for that patch. Best of luck hitting quota consistently unless you happen to be one of the very few who were put in the right position. The quotas are unattainable, and they still split patches over, and over. There was a time where territory’s were bigger and the commission structure was higher. People joining now are way too late. I would stay away from this opportunity unless you’re trying to break into the tech industry, and you’re willing to commute to work every day.
