Pros

Loved being a part of the Vermeer team and loved the job. I was always touting the great place to work that WAS Vermeer.

Cons

I legitimately injured myself while working. I was fired for not disclosing a bicycle injury sustained 15 years prior that I had never had problems with since. They fought me on everything. They are the epitome of corporate greed. 39 defective hay mowers were knowingly sent out "fix if fail" - how's that for caring about their customers? I discovered this while on light duty post injury, I was fired a week later.

Politically inclined to one party and that's all they flaunt about

Pros

The pay is great and some projects are nice. People are respectful only during cross functional meetings. Work life balance is good.

Cons

Where do I even begin? 1. The parking lot has cars / cars that flaunts political agenda with giant flags. 2. Most of the plants have political party stickers, even the work computer background wallpaper has a certain political leader's name. 3. If you are a POC, get ready to get the stares. Not just , "I have never seen a colored person before" stare, but- "what is this deer doing among the pride of lions" stare. Going to the bathroom is creepy because everyone just stares at you while you walk. Very hostile environment. 4. Employees -be it front office or production workers- they have no sense of curtsy or any regards to anyone who has a different view/ belief. They will openly talk about politics and how they don't believe in certain views and will openly discriminate certain groups of people. For example- an employee was openly talking about how he hates LGBTQ and people of color, infront of someone who is a POC. So much for EEO. There is no anonymous reporting - they will out your complaint and you will remain hostile forever. 5. Most of the management and leadership have no degrees and have moved up thru mere experiences. Sometimes they have no idea what they are doing and shrugs and moves on. 6. Stalk some of the managers' facebook- the open political discussions and to know someone who pretends to care for you at work actually hates you and wants you gone.
