Pros

Great area, competitive salary, lots of interesting work. We get to work on a wide variety of machines and have reasonably free reign for invention and experimentation. We frequently work directly with the machines during test and debug and get a lot of outdoor work.

Cons

Vermeer's environment is very geared towards mechanical engineering and manufacturing. Being a electrical engineer is challenging from a social aspect. I would describe the general Vermeer attitude towards electrical engineers as disrespectful at best, and perhaps even hostile. There seems to be a glass ceiling for us, almost all management comes from a mechanical/business background, even in the electrical/computer groups.
