Pros

The people are what makes this company great. Everyone knows everyone, work well together and have fun but also focus on results without heavy pressure. The Senior leadership team knows pretty much every employee by name which is amazing and adds a family feel. A very long track record of excellent financial results while still doing the right thing for customers is also a key element of success.

Pros

I've worked at enough large companies to know that I don't like being just another cog in the wheel. I like being valued and appreciated for the work that I do - that's just what it's like here. When senior leadership knows employees and can walk around and say hi and know things about people, that's truly something special. There are wonderful people that work at Vermont Mutual and it's clear that the company's greatest assets are it's employees. If you want to feel valued, have development opportunities, and have an amazing work-life balance, then look no further.

Cons

It's a growing company, so there is always lots of work to be done, but that's also exciting that you get to be a part of shaping the future of the company.

Claims examiner

Pros

The benefit package is commensurate with other carriers.

Cons

The degree of micromanagement in the claims department has been steadily increasing over past 6 years and prevents experienced employees from being able to effectively carry out their ‘function’. Morale within department is extremely low, salaries are low and level of authority for primary adjusters is so low as to preclude expeditious handling of undisputed claims.
