Pros

Great place to work if you like rah-rah meetings full of BS.

Cons

Versiti is a greedy corporation that has taken over community blood banks around the Midwest. The daily corporate demand for blood products far exceeds what donors are willing to give so it is a high pressure environment. The Versiti folks are highly disorganized and their focus and priorities are insane. They do not embrace the mission of the community blood bank and their song and dance for the employees is hollow. People are quitting every week, stay away.

Pros

There are great things about Versiti; the benefits are very good (except there is no personal leave); pay is in line with the market; if you want to grow and play an active role in your development, you can easily move up.

Cons

The biggest challenge is leadership at all levels. The senior leaders come from Big Pharma and think our workforce will act like pharma employees. There are of us who are hourly and cannot manage our lives and work at Versiti. I love our mission, but if I can’t take care of my family because of the schedule I am given, I will need to quit. I also see our leaders care about how many hours we work vs how much work is being done. This mentality is exactly opposite of where next generation companies are going. We have these “wellness” benefits, but we are not willing to be flexible with employees who might want to work less or not be given tons more than what they were hired to do for no extra money. The world is changing because of COVID; if we don’t address the needs of our people, we will lose some great talent across the board.

Pros

It was a pretty easy job to do whether part time or full for someone who was retired and just needed some extra income. Since I was driving around I was able to get out in the fresh air and had more autonomy than sitting behind a desk. It was better than sitting at home bored.

Cons

When I started there they had a female supervisor that was really great, but then they had a guy come from a different facility that became manager and they outsourced all the drivers to a different company. Things just went downhill from there.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We are disappointed to hear the transition from one supervisor to the next was unsatisfactory and are interested in learning more. Please email HR4You@versiti.org to provide further feedback.
