Nothing short of a HOT MESS

Pros

Some of the people that realize this company is bs Happy hours and sometimes the snacks if people remember to fill them

Cons

Where to begin? Here is a short list of everything that is completely wrong with this company: Upper management is a white men boys club and they lack knowledge of the industry in general. It's appalling how they got their jobs. Benefits aren't all that great No process or lack of understanding of the process when it comes to design Always letting people go (Women and POC usually go first) No recognition of hard work Abuse of titles and power They treat you like a work horse, not a collaborator They have an EXCESS of meetings and 1 on 1's as distractions from the real stuff They take ZERO action and there are no repercussions for people's actions There is a lot of unprofessionalism going on in this office Sexism is super rampant here as well The office is super dirty Happy hours are fun but people are so inconsiderate there that HH become this free food grab and you just immediately go back to your desk. No opportunity for growth They are completely cheap (they want good work for cheap) Those are just a list of all the things that this office provides in cons. Seriously, I never write reviews for places no matter how bad they are but I feel as though I have to write this to warn any designers and anybody considering VEVO as a place of employment. This place is awful and will only leave you feeling crazy. It is nothing short of a HOT MESS. My soul left my body when I heard some of the things that were said in that office. All I can describe it is PEAK WHITENESS. I agree with the review that said HR are writing the positive reviews to get the company's rating up. This place is not suitable to work. RUN FAR FAR AWAY. DONT COME HERE. You will work there a month and seriously reconsider your life choices.

Unhealthy Work Environment

Pros

Great pay. Decent benefits. Unlimited snacks. Office Happy Hours. And the few genuine people who made an effort to be kind, warm, and welcoming.

Cons

Unfortunately, the pros could not outweigh the cons and the handful of nice people can't undo the affects of those who were negative, entitled, uncommunicative, and rude. The person who described it as a "country club" was right on point! There was a heavy sense of entitlement, especially from the account execs. They will talk to people below them in whatever way they want (especially females) and no one does anything about it. There is a huge lack of diversity, which is very apparent in the senior leadership - mostly all white men. People communicate passive aggressively over slack and email rather than walking over to your cubicle to clarify or confirm things. Work/life balance feels non-existent. You will be expected to work non-stop, early mornings, weeknights, weekends, and vacation - because team leads and managers do that, so they expect you to as well. Many people on the sales team who were relatively new, were burned out by their second month. If you are someone who is looking for a warm, fun, healthy, well-balanced place to work - VEVO is not the place for you.

Pros

You'll probably meet some great friends along the way. Great initial learning experience, good benefits and flexibility. If you are work in the outer offices, you are basically free to come and go as you please, NY is lax and flexible but not quite as flexible as the outer offices because senior management sits in the NY office.

Cons

You're expected to be on-call, no work-life balance (but I guess they balance it out with flexibility meaning you are expected to answer emails/work after hours from home), no career pathing. This is not a place for growth, this is more of place of maintenance, but management will constantly tell you that there is a possibility for growth in the future, but the reality is someone above you has to quit in order for you to move up and most leadership folks aren't going anywhere. There is also not enough people to do the work, so everyone is overworked and frustrated because they are working hard but know that there is no growth. If you are a minority, there will only be a few of you. They try to promote diversity and inclusion, but somehow they just keep hiring the same people over and over -- nepotism is RAMPANT! (as mentioned in the review title). And, IF you have an interest in working for a music company and think you can do one thing and hopefully cross over to another department - you can forget it! I've only seen this happen TWICE!
