Lacking in direction and innovation

Pros

Colleagues are a good bunch of people who loved music. Job was relaxed.

Cons

People generally didn't work very hard. There was also a lack of clear direction or innovation (other than moving the needle on sales by a certain percentage every quarter) to rally everyone to get very excited. Poor communication from leadership means we were always in the dark about important decisions or even the general direction of the company.

Pros

You'll probably meet some great friends along the way. Great initial learning experience, good benefits and flexibility. If you are work in the outer offices, you are basically free to come and go as you please, NY is lax and flexible but not quite as flexible as the outer offices because senior management sits in the NY office.

Cons

You're expected to be on-call, no work-life balance (but I guess they balance it out with flexibility meaning you are expected to answer emails/work after hours from home), no career pathing. This is not a place for growth, this is more of place of maintenance, but management will constantly tell you that there is a possibility for growth in the future, but the reality is someone above you has to quit in order for you to move up and most leadership folks aren't going anywhere. There is also not enough people to do the work, so everyone is overworked and frustrated because they are working hard but know that there is no growth. If you are a minority, there will only be a few of you. They try to promote diversity and inclusion, but somehow they just keep hiring the same people over and over -- nepotism is RAMPANT! (as mentioned in the review title). And, IF you have an interest in working for a music company and think you can do one thing and hopefully cross over to another department - you can forget it! I've only seen this happen TWICE!
