Strong sense of community and supportive environment. Fairly good students. Northern Virginia Campus is in a very good location Some solid faculty and research labs

Cons

Too bureaucratic and not very dynamic Unclear priorities and decision making channels Faculty salaries lower than many peer institutions Trying to be "nice", many faculty frequently do not provide honest feedback to students and colleagues

A great, friendly teaching staff with world class facilities. Best food on any academic campus in the world. One of the top engineering schools in the world.

Pros

Blacksburg is a very nice place to live and the Virginia Tech campus is nice as well. A lot of resources and a large variety of interesting work going on

Cons

There is a lot of bureaucracy so it is hard to get things done. Some things seem to be judged more on politics rather than actual merit
