Pros

The hci faculty is world renowned and the work environment is optimal. One of the biggest advantages in getting a degree in CS/HCI at Virginia Tech is that there is a LOT of collaboration, both within the center as well as interdisciplinary. Also, all faculty and students are fluent in research, and discussions are quite lively. It's great to be at paw where HCI is not a foreign discipline within the CS department.

Cons

Don't expect to get paid more than what is barely enough to makeebd meets as a graduate student at Virginia Tech. Nthis is, however, true for most other career programs. Don't consider a PhD at Virginia Tech if you cannot commit to be diligent about research, self motivated and proactive to make things happen. I've seen student get stuck for close to a decade due to a lack of those qualities.

Pros

Management was very friendly, welcoming. The work was fast paced, so time goes by quickly. I worked in the Pizza shop, and had the opportunity to do something different each time I came to work. I could arrange my schedule around my availability, as a student, and only had to work 10 hours a week. It was easy to get time off for exams, sickness, etc. if necessary, as long as you tell your manager in advance. You get a free meal with every shift you work. I have never had any problems with the customers or employees- most are very nice and respectful. Every now and then, there will be an event hosted by management for the employees, e.g. movie night

Cons

Some employees didn't really like their job, and it showed. Sometimes, communication is poor between chefs and store workers about inventory, and it is not uncommon to run out of one or more products.

Pros

-good for extra money for a college student cause they work around your schedule -some of the people are really nice and that will be the only thing that keeps you going back

Cons

-if your actually sick you still get in trouble with out a doctors note -management wants you to pull of miracles with almost no people and most of them are not willing to help you out
