Pros

Location in Boston is ideal with a comfortable, pleasant office setting. Great, if not best product on the market.

Cons

There are no leaders--just managers. Nearly impossible to affect change. There is a quantifiable absence of trust, lack of urgency and 'it's not my job' attitude that hinders progress. The owner.

Pros

Vista is a historically very successful company filled with passionate, fun interesting, eccentric, kind people. 90% of the people here are delightful. The product itself is fantastic and well received by almost all prospective customers. Within individual departments, the "small company" team like structure has built some very special, close knit, family type relationships. The office is beautiful, meetings and outings are fun, and at times extravagant. There are renewed efforts to reward in office employees with perks like themed lunches, chair massages, and communicative meetings with management which will hopefully lead to some better morale.

Cons

The Leadership team has trouble connecting with, listening to, and respecting the massive amount of talent they have at their disposal. There seems to be a wall between the people in charge and the people on the ground, that is at times insurmountable. This can be very frustrating when decisions are made at the top that affect everyone, without consideration of consequences for their employees. As a result, there has been a spectacular amount of turnover in middle management. That said, the soldiers on the ground are some of the best people I know, great workers, intelligent, kind, and a pleasure to work with.

Total disregard for employees

Pros

Smart talented coworkers passionate about language

Cons

The company's owner and upper management show complete and total disregard for employees. Letting people go with no notice is a common practice. They create a great product but it is not a humane place to work and your effort, talent, and time will be taken advantage of with little or no gratitude. There's been promises of change for years but nothing has changed.
