Pros

-Most of my colleagues are passionate about our organization's mission. -We save lives without the stress of working in a hospital or having to care for a patient. -The benefits package is the best I've seen or heard of anywhere else. -Job security -You are able to gain experience in many different areas and acquire new knowledge with plenty of support.

Cons

-Longevity matters more than performance. -Too much job security with no way to let go of ineffective or disruptive employees. -Disconnect from upper management -The focus on DEI is taking away from the company culture.

Pros

Company actually as a whole tries to do well for employees in terms of compensation and benefits. I think the top management and CEO are really trying to make the place a good spot to be.

Cons

Great job if you want to work hard while supervisors sit around and play on their phones. Good luck with local management as well. They’re quite busy holding chairs down and discussing the latest TikTok’s. Not much room to progress at all unless you’re willing to move. They hold onto every employee no matter how toxic they are because they are so desperate for workers. Great place if you want to sit and play on your phone while other people work around you I guess. Bad environment for anyone who wants to succeed and actually make a difference

Pros

The benefits are top notch (once you're allowed to access your earned PTO after NINE months).

Cons

- The upper management of drivers lacks all interpersonal, communication, organization, and general skills required - observing the lack of staff cohesiveness was inexcusable. - The schedule is erratic and inconsistent at best. They treat employees as "plug and play" pieces on a board without factoring in the human element; over 4 months in and I was still unsure what I was working week-to-week and often day-to-day, even around the holidays. For example, in a span of 7 days I had shifts of 4pm-12am, 6am-2pm, 10pm-6am. - Interoffice communication within the company is terrible, almost non-existent. - HR is unprofessionally callous and a one-way listener in handling questions and concerns. - With it being a union position (after 9 months of employment), way too much emphasis is placed on seniority; to the point where new hires whom are not yet unionized are expendable and not treated equally, nor as fairly, as union drivers. - After contracting COVID, I understandably had to follow company policy of 5 days quarantined, another 3 days until my fever subsided (also per company policy). then an additional 3 days where I wasn't allowed back until I received a physical from my doctor to be deemed fit to work due to shortness of breath (also per company policy). These 11 days counted against me as 'call-offs' since I was still in my probationary period and due to their "no-fault" policy. This incomprehensibly contradictory, unfair, and asinine policy does absolutely nothing to protect employees who are already working in a highly susceptible environment being in dozens of hospitals. - So don't plan on contracting COVID if you're a newer hire with Vitalant; or else their policy to protect employee and co-worker health is inexplicably negated by their attendance policy, even whilst having medical documentation.
