An Amazing Company with Great People!
Pros
In my time at Vitalant so far, I've met so many people committed to the mission of doing all we can to help others. Everyone in the company is united in this goal which aids in the feeling of camaraderie. This doesn't just apply to the regular Donor Care Technicians either, the managers and supervisors are also always helping wherever and whenever they can. Whether that be by being available for the staff they oversee, or helping on the "front-lines" so to speak at blood drives. Everyone does commit a lot of time to achieving our goals of collecting enough blood to cover the needs of the public, but we do get compensated well for that time. The higher management is always looking for ways to improve the culture of the company and the work-life balance of employees.
Cons
The weaker things about Vitalant mostly start at the time that employees do put into the company. The hours worked on mobile blood drives can get a little odd and hard to work around. There are ways to work with these hours though with extra scheduling options, like working Tuesday through Saturday instead of the usual Monday Through Friday. This provides a weekday free as well as extra compensation on the weekend. Another issue however, is the strained communication between different departments within the company. The Donor Care team is definitely tight knit but often don't get all of the proper communication from other departments such as Donor Recruitment or Hospital Services. This is not for lack of trying however, and this is actively being worked out between all of the staff working in Vitalant.
