Pros

Life-saving mission that touches communities across the nation.

Cons

Organization has absolutely no concept of communication, holds a "quantity-over-quality" model as priority, does not understand the proper utility of organizational learning, viewing training as a solution to all problems rather than a resource for knowledge, supervisors default all performance issues to training rather than acknowledging the role they play in performance development and improvement, IT takes absolutely *zero* - and I mean ZERO - responsibility for delivering functional computers to new hires for remote orientation, resulting in costly disruptions that waste valuable time, money, and other resources.

Pros

-Can make a mostly livable income -Always opportunities for overtime -The best coworkers -Matched 401k up to 5% your first year -Health insurance is alright -Up to $5,000 of tuition a year towards approved schools in related fields (medical and science)

Cons

If you want to be over worked, under paid and never appreciated Vitalant is perfect. If you want to work for an uncaring and huge company who asks you to live and work with integrity but cannot have an ounce of it themselves, then come work for Vitalant. Constantly hiring new phlebotomists under a veil of lies saying that you will have a work life balance, good pay, great benefits, and possible growth. If you like being yelled at by belligerent strangers, cussed at, and threatened, then this is the place for you. Vitalant will not do anything about it, but rather let them re-book their appointment! If you don't mind never getting breaks on 12+ hour days, missing lunch breaks, putting the safety of people at risk and working for management that tell you after a 14 hour day where you sprinted the whole time while trying to get every donor thought that, "you didn't do enough", then come work at Vitalant. If you want to be viewed as entirely disposable and to hate your life and your job right out of training, this might be the perfect fit. If you want entirely useless management that doesn't give a flying fu@k about you, then go work for the management at Vitalant because they sure don't. I have been at Vitalant for 15 months and have not only had terrifying moments, but it has brought on havoc in my personal life because of the lack of flexibility and work life balance. 5 months ago I had to start antidepressants for the first time ever because of the pressure at work I had become so internally depressed. I have never seen such burnout in a company than I do at Vitalant. The turn over rate every year is horrifying. Seriously think twice before working here.

Pros

Great co-workers, excellent pay and benefits, life-saving mission.

Cons

CIO is a bully who has created a toxic environment in the IT department HR and Executive management do nothing to reign him in. He "leads" by threats and intimidation, that's why most of the experienced IT leadership has left over the past two years.
