Pros

I enjoyed the people and working in certain departments.

Cons

The shoe department is crazy, so much is expected of you and it so hard on you physically and mentally. Managers in the shoe department get paid less then the sales associates which seems backwards. Only room for advancement is if your willing to move.

Pros

Some of the employees Paid Sundays 20% discount

Cons

Management has no idea what they are doing or how to treat people. The store manager is never around until its time to close or come around asking rhetorical questions about how to do your job. The floor managers have no authority but love to micromanage the great DM's just to abuse and put people down who should actually have their jobs.If you have any input on how to improve anything just forget that. It will go in one ear and out the other never to be heard of again. Literally the most fake people I have ever come in contact with. Promotions are a joke. Expect a new hire to get a manager position over someone who has worked there butt off and knows about Von Maur already. If you know how this place works you don't want to be a manager but the new ones have no idea so they promote someone who couldn't tell you left from right and 3 months later POOF they are gone.Highest turn over rate I have ever seen. I worked with over 18 people in just 1 year. Tess is the worst thing ever. You will never have time to have a life or be with your family since a computer is scheduling you and not an actual person. You rarely have 2 consecutive days off in a row and when you do there was always something because they never had coverage. No one stays long enough to get some sort of constant schedule. Respect is something they should stress instead of customer service. Treating your employees like they are criminals and not the people stuffing there purses full of merchandise then the next day comes back and gets store credit for it all. There policies are null and void. Customers can return ANYTHING and everything for any price they state they purchased it. Oh and if you think there needs to be a tag or receipt think again. The whole time working there I gave 110% everyday and that was 110% too much after looking back on it. Everyone is miserable and knows all the backwards stuff that goes on but puts up with the abuse for god knows why. I had to leave and get my soul back. I would never recommend this company even to my worst enemy.

Pros

Live piano music, allowing duets and singers Major holidays off: 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, New Years Day, Easter Time and a half on Sunday No outrageous holiday hours, close at 9p like usual Managers encourage you to do well Good Sick time and vacation time, once you accumulate it Benefits are good New employee training is thorough and ongoing department manager training is good Meals provided to employees during Christmas & inventory (which is at 5:45a, not overnight thankfully)

Cons

Hardly ever have 2 consecutive days off (probably only once a month) Difficult to use the scheduling system TESS Working a 12p-9p shift then a 7a-4p shift the next day Favoritism Following the motto "The Customer is Always Right," but they expect you to follow store policies, so you should basically just ignore store policies and do whatever the customer tells you to do. Finding ways to push "problem list" employees to quit instead of firing them. Expecting you to clean floors for inspection in skirts and pantyhose
