growth potential, networking, experience for a resume

Cons

seniority is incompetent and ignorant to individual areas. individuals can get promoted to an area without regard of prior experience or knowledge.

Pros

Sunday pay If you are entry level, decent pay + commission If you like fashion,merchandise carried is nice and you can use your discount.

Cons

A lot. First off the management is very young and they play the blame game. Everyone including the employees blame each other, b.c customer complaints are taken very sersiously. They treat new people horribly. I've seen managers who couldn't even handle a customer complaint, go in the backroom and cry. I've seen other employees take credit for other peoples sales. I think a lot of pace setters and employees who have been at Von Maur for a long time are deceitful, you don't even want to be around them. The older women just complain about everything, and eachother behind thier backs.

Pros

I enjoyed the co-workers. Enjoyed many of the customers. Pay was adequate for sales position. Offered insurance time and half pay on Sundays.

Cons

Upper management was totally ridiculous. Calling you in on the carpet like a 3rd grader for reasons that were beyond your control. For instance: slow days with no traffic, (which made for low sales), a customer didnt get quick attention, when only one sales person on the floor per 2 depts. Getting called on the carpet because you asked a question about policy. Only one weekend off a month, 2 nights a week and more. The longer you work there the worse you are treated. Get the feeling they want a turnover to keep payroll low. Not treating all employess equally. Upper management hires and then tells dept. managers to deal with human resources horrible hiring. Dept. managers are held accountable for the poor hiring of the human resources, Allowing new hire's to take time off during blackout dates but employees that have been there for 15 years not allowed. Security watching employees upstairs then making fun and remarks with upper management. Oh yes this does happen!!!!!
