Pros

- Coworkers are usually pretty cool - Customer service training - Good first job. Anything after this is only better.

Cons

This is an employer that takes advantage of hard workers instead of rewarding them. Management constantly lies to get better results out of you. People who have been with the company for a long time are pressured into quitting to make room for cheaper new hires. This is the definition of entry level work. Working for Vons will give you the motivation you need to get a degree in ANYTHING just to get out. I've seen so many people who don't deserve a dime getting pay raises by managers making mistakes on payroll and letting people who suck up to them get maxed out.

Pros

I work at a Panda Express inside the Vons store. My job category is listed under "Uniform Employee." Vons is my employer and pays my checks but I only do Panda Express work. The plus side of this is that the hours are usually better.

Cons

The union!!! The benefits of the Union here in California outweigh the benefits. I have no choice but to pay weekly union dues. Vons deducts the amount from my check and I have no say in it. Workers like me, "Uniform Employees" get lower pay and fewer raises. And of course the worse part of my job is not the management or the hours, it is the customers. But this is retail so that is expected.
